Oct. 31, 2012 -- Barbados’s HDI value for 2011 is 0.793—in the very high human development category—positioning the country at 47 out of 187 countries and territories. Between 2005 and 2011, Barbados’s HDI value increased from 0.787 to 0.793, an increase of 1.0 per cent or average annual increase of about 0.1 percent.

visually-impaired contestant to enter the Optimist International Zone’s Caribbean
District Oratorical Contest in its history, placed second at the contest held
at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica on April 14. She competed against seven other contestants
